How streaks work

A streak counts the unbroken time you've kept up with a contact — not how many times you tap "done." It's calculated from when you started keeping in touch with them.

A streak breaks if a catch-up is left undone for more than 7 days past its due date. Completing your next catch-up starts a new streak.

What counts toward a streak:

• Routine catch-ups start, extend, and break streaks.
• Birthdays and anniversaries can start or extend a streak, but never break one on their own.
• One-off reminders never affect your streak — they're tasks, not check-ins.
• If a birthday or anniversary falls close to a scheduled catch-up, Tendly shows only the special date and quietly skips the catch-up that day. Completing the special date keeps your streak alive; leaving it undone breaks the streak, same as an ignored catch-up.

Why did a catch-up not show up for someone?

If a birthday or anniversary is coming up within a few days of a routine catch-up, Tendly hides the catch-up so you're not nudged twice about the same person. Birthdays, anniversaries, and one-off reminders always show, even alongside each other.

Reminder types

• Birthday — repeats yearly, reminds you on the day
• Anniversary — repeats yearly, available for contacts tagged Partner
• Custom — one-off by default, can be set to repeat yearly

One-off reminders disappear once marked done. Recurring ones return next year. Birthdays and anniversaries can't be marked done early. Custom reminders can be completed early.

Deleting a contact or your account

Deleting a contact removes them from your list; the record is kept for 30 days in case it was a mistake. Deleting your account works the same way — sign back in within 30 days and everything, including your contacts, is restored. After 30 days, neither can be recovered.

Trial and subscription

30 days of full access, no card required. After that: £2/month, or a one-time £20 Lifetime purchase (sometimes available at a discount through the referral program). No permanent free tier. Billing and cancellation happen through your App Store account settings, not inside Tendly.

Notifications

The master toggle controls all reminders. A separate weekly nudge about overdue catch-ups automatically turns off if the master toggle is off. Reminders are scheduled and delivered locally on your device, not through a push notification service.

Changing how often you check in

The cadence you set for each contact ("check in every X") calculates the next due date from the last time you actually completed a catch-up, not a fixed calendar date. Check in early and the next one moves up; check in late and it moves back.

How does the referral discount work?

Share your referral code. Each friend who converts to a paid plan (not just a trial) steps your own Lifetime price down by £3, up to 5 referrals — down to a floor of £5.
